Find answers to common questions about our freight and logistics services in Tanzania
What documents do I need for international freight clearance?
You will need a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading (OBL/HBL), certificate of origin, and any specific permits required for your goods (such as phytosanitary certificates for agricultural products). Our team handles the customs documentation and clearance process on your behalf.
How does cargo consolidation work and how can it save me money?
Cargo consolidation combines multiple smaller shipments from different suppliers into one full container load (FCL). This reduces shipping costs because you only pay for the space your cargo occupies rather than the entire container. It's ideal for businesses that don't have enough volume to fill a full container.
What is the difference between OBL and HBL in shipping?
OBL (Original Bill of Lading) is issued by the shipping line and serves as the contract of carriage. HBL (House Bill of Lading) is issued by a freight forwarder like us to the shipper. The HBL allows for more flexibility with consolidation and is the document used for final delivery to the consignee after clearance.
How long does customs clearance take at Dar es Salaam port?
Standard customs clearance typically takes 3-5 working days for properly documented shipments. However, this can vary depending on cargo type, inspection requirements, and current port congestion. Our electronic submission system helps expedite the process through Tanzania Revenue Authority.
Can you track my shipment from origin to final delivery?
Yes, we provide real-time tracking updates throughout the shipping process. From the moment cargo is collected at origin, through sea/air transit, customs clearance, and final delivery coordination, we keep you informed at every stage with regular status reports.
